Shipping Starting This Weekend! Locking down BackerKit Addresses & Funds
about 5 years ago – Wed, Mar 13, 2019 at 10:25:13 PM

Hello Backers,

Quick update for everyone. We're going to start shipping THIS weekend! With that said, we'd like to remind everyone we're a very small operation and it will take time for us to get through 1000+ orders. So don't expect your order to necessarily go out this weekend. We will however have all orders out by  March 31st if not sooner. We will be fulfilling in more or less the order in which funding was received.

This means that we are going to start locking down shipping addresses in BackerKit Friday March 15th. If you've moved and want your order shipped to a different location. Please change your address in BackerKit now.

This also means that we will charging credit cards for any additional add-ons this week. Just a heads up.

Let us know if you have any questions in the comments below!

Thanks!

Production Updates and Unfortunate Delays
about 5 years ago – Fri, Mar 01, 2019 at 12:57:48 AM

Hello Backers!

Thank for you for your continued support and patience. In this update we'll discuss international shipping, production updates, and information about a production error causing a delay.

Production Updates:

Production of the blocks is going well, but a little behind schedule. We were hoping to have all machining and engraving completed by this week but an issue with the tungsten supplier causing them to only release a partial material shipment pushed this estimated completion date into next week. That said, the blocks are coming out beautiful. Some images are below.

To make matters worse, our packaging supplier made a pretty silly error and didn't correctly punch a hole allowing the stands to fit within the packaging. The packaging is being sent back to the supplier to correct the issue now. We're hoping this delay takes less than a week to resolve.

Because of both of these issues we're now estimating to begin shipping week of March 15th. If this date changes, we will be sure to let everyone know.

International Shipping Prices:

We've seen many comments from our international backers confused about the justification for international pricing and the explanation is pretty simple. The question posed is “why is it that in some cases it's cheaper to ship two individual packages than it is one shipment with two items?”

USPS International First Class mail is the most economical option for our backers. But unfortunately, USPS First Class International has a weight limit of 1.8kg (4lbs). After 4lbs, we're forced to use USPS Priority Mail, which is significantly more expensive. Because of the nature of the item (relatively heavy pieces of metal) and depending on the exact item you're ordering, the 4lb limit is reached pretty quickly (within 1-2 items in most cases). This forces us to use the more expensive Priority Mail option. We apologize for this and we agree the USPS pricing structure does not make a lot of sense but there is not much we can do about this at the moment.

Again, thanks for your continued patience and support!

Brief Update - BackerKit Add-on Shipping Pricing, Production, Etc
about 5 years ago – Sat, Feb 09, 2019 at 11:38:29 PM

Hello Everyone,

Production / Shipping Dates

We are still on track for an early March shipping date. Packaging has completed production but right now with our machine shop closed for a holiday until next Friday (Feb 15th) we can't provide any images. We hope to show some production photos in our next update after the 15th however.

Discounts for Previous Backers (and Video/Photo contributors)

Some of you have asked how previous Backers will receive the advertised discount. For now, we've applied a credit to your BackerKit account that can be used for add-ons. After we have shipped out orders, if you were a previous backer and have an account balance, we will refund the balance within Kickstarter at your request. We apologize if this is not a very elegant solution but we are a little constrained with how Kickstarter and BackerKit are setup.

Shipping Pricing for Add-ons

We've been getting a few questions regarding add-ons and shipping pricing. Specifically for international customers, who are essentially getting double charged when getting add-ons. We are aware of this issue and we're working on a fix with BackerKit. It was supposed to get resolved earlier this week on Wednesday but it looks like the issue is still present. Please be patient while we work this in the background.

Thanks

Updates! BackerKit Surveys Expected to go out this week!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Jan 16, 2019 at 12:06:01 AM

Hello Backers!

We just wanted to briefly update you on a few items.

Production:

Production has begun and is expected to be completed by the end of February, a few weeks later than we'd previously hoped. So while we're still on schedule, we are currently planning for deliveries to begin in early March rather than late February.

BackerKit Surveys:

BackerKit surveys cannot go out until funding is cleared from Kickstarter, which should occur tomorrow 1/16/18. Once funds clear, we'll push out the surveys as quickly as possible. The plan right now is to release them by Saturday the 19th.

Artwork / Packaging:

As promised here is the final artwork for our new packaging! Let us know what you think!
